Geneva Lion’s Club

It feels like it was forever ago that Leslie Wolko and I first created the Geneva Lion’s Club website. They had been managing it happily by themselves for years and only needed to reach out occasionally when they got stuck.

A recent desire to fully upgrade their site prompted them to reach out to us. The WooThemes Canvas theme we had used was no longer supported by the original developer. (It had been one of the most flexible and well supported WordPress theme framework available for many years.) The developer deprecated the theme a few years ago to focus efforts on the much more lucrative WooCommerce. It wasn’t until php 8.0 that problems started to arise with the old theme. Now that support for php 7.4 has expired, they needed to jump to version 8.x.

So they reached out to Wolko Design Group and sitebyMIKE to re-theme the site. They loved the design, so we replicated the look in GeneratePress, one of the most flexible and well supported theme frameworks today. We also upgraded a ton of other features and incorporated some of our favorite premium plugins to help enhance their site’s visibility.
